Millers Oils

Using the correct oil and carrying out regular servicing will dramatically improve the performance of all classic cars as well as reduce damage to key components. But navigating the amazing range of products available and knowing what is 'right' for your vehicle can be much more difficult.

We use a range of lubricants from Millers Classic Oils in our workshop.  Their comprehensive, quality range of products spans the whole history of motoring

Engine oil

For cars using mineral engine oil (those in the vintage and classic groups) we recommend changing engine oil and the filter every year or 3,000 miles. You can extend this to two years or 6,000 miles for cars using semi or synthetic oil.

Brake/clutch fluid

Brake fluid should be changed every two years as it is hydroscopic and absorbs water from the atmosphere, corroding the inside of your vehicles hydraulic systems. Regular changes save hundreds of pounds in corroded components such as master cylinders and brake callipers.

Antifreeze

Classic antifreeze (usually blue, green or red) should be changed every two years. This keeps the system clean and reduces rust and contaminates. More modern formulas (usually yellow or orange) should be changed every three years.

Transmission fluids

Service intervals for transmission fluids are generally longer than those in engines. But for cars in classic use we recommend changing them every 5 years or 20,000 miles.
